Storage Choice FAQ | What Size Unit Will I Need?
Storage Choice offers a variety of storage units that span a broad range of sizes. When you’re trying to decide where to safely keep your personal items, you might get confused by all of the options! The type of unit you need depends on what you’re storing and the amount of space you’ll require. Here, Storage Choice gives a quick guide to help you decide what size of storage unit you’ll need.
- The smallest unit is 5’ by 5’. This is 25 square feet, which is the size of a closet, and is good for small items, like toys, extra clothes, business materials, and small seasonal items. Choose this size if you’re just looking for a space to stash your extra clutter.
- The next two sizes, 5’ by 10’ or 5’ by 15’, are about the size of a large walk-in closet. This is a great choice for a college student home for the summer, or anyone else who just needs to store a few furniture items, like sofas, chairs, mattresses, and box springs.
- A 10’ by 10’ unit is half the size of a one-car garage. This unit is big enough to hold about as much furniture as you might find in a one bedroom apartment. If you’re staging your home in order to sell it, this is a great place to put your extra furniture.
- Units that are 10’ by 15’, 10’ by 20’, and 10’ by 30’ offer quite a bit of space. Think of 10’ by 15’ as two-thirds the size of a one-car garage; 10’ by 20’ as the size of a one-car garage; and 10’ by 30’ as the size of a two-car garage. If you have a lot to store, consider one of these.
