The 2015 Fort Worth Parade of LightsPosted on
Every year, thousands of people turn out for our beloved annual Fort Worth Parade of Lights. It’s a weekend of excitement and camaraderie where we can celebrate traditions we’ve come to love, like the all-day entertainment in Sundance Square Plaza, and of course, the evening parade! Storage Choice is sharing our favorite tips on how you and your family can best enjoy the day, as well as our great options for self storage if you happen to have a float in this year’s parade.
Tips for Family Fun
For families, a wonderful way to start out the day is to head out in the morning to “Celebrate the Holidays Together Downtown.” Several ways to keep your family together throughout the day include wearing matching or similar colors, making sure everyone has a cellphone, or even using mini walkie-talkies.
We suggest arriving early to beat the crowds that quickly begin gathering and enjoy lunch at one of the many great Fort Worth downtown restaurants. Brand new retailers will be open throughout the city, and local business always appreciate the support that comes from shoppers during the weekend. Be sure to pop in one and pick up some Fort Worth memorabilia, or something to keep you warm throughout the evening.
Arriving early to get a seat is a good idea if you want a great view of the parade. We recommend bringing fold-up chairs and blankets to stay comfortable and warm throughout the evening. You will thank yourself later when your kids are content, not complaining. Grab a cup of hot cocoa, and get cozy while you’re waiting for the parade to begin. Don’t forget to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to a child in need — Cowboy Santa volunteers will be collecting them prior to the start of the parade.
Around 6 pm, it will finally be time to sit back and enjoy the parade! Over 100 illuminated entries will be featured, many featuring local entertainers, and Santa will even make an appearance later in the evening. As always, the evening concludes on a special note with the lighting of the Sundance Square Christmas Tree.
Were you lucky enough to have a float in this year’s parade? For large, bulky objects that often accompany such floats, storage units are a wonderful option. Keep your decor and props clean, hid-away and most importantly, not taking up space in your home until next year!
