Storage Auction Dates

Posted on

With the popularity of the hit show Storage Wars, storage auctions are drumming up renewed interest. In the past, very few people knew of storage auctions, but now many are interested in participating. These auctions involve abandoned self-storage units, or simply units for which the renter fails to fulfill the rental contract. When that happens, the owner of the storage facility conducts an auction, and these storage auctions are a great way to find merchandise to resell for a profit, or just inexpensive furnishings for your home.

If you would like to try your hand at scoring at a storage auction, Storage Choice has a number of dates in May for such auctions, in different locations (Note: All times is CDT):

To participate in an auction, arrive ten to fifteen minutes early, to sign in and be assigned a number. You will probably be asked to show your state-issued ID, and may be asked to show a resale license, if you plan to buy the auctioned items tax-free. Bring cash, because that is usually the only form of payment accepted. Be advised: you will have the opportunity to peek through the doors of a storage unit before bidding, but you will not be able to closely inspect the merchandise. You never know what might be left behind, but it could be anything from small pieces of jewelry to a large boat or car!

While you might not strike it rich at a storage auction, the thrill of bidding is worth the experience. Even if you are not looking for storage auctions, but just want a secure, climate-controlled place to store your extra things, Storage Choice has you covered.
